February has been a month full of Love! Love for our locals, loving our bodies and now its time to let that love grow by planting those seeds and setting yourself up for a successful gardening season. Whether you have a large outdoor growing space or teeny tiny window sill you can be a gardener this year!
If you are like me and like to harvest seeds than you know seed swapping is the best way to gain variety in your garden without breaking the bank buying seeds. Every year I use a mix of store bought West Coast Seeds and my own or other peoples harvested seeds, I do this to avoid disappointment in case you don’t get exactly what you thought you had from last years crops! I also tend to tart more seeds than needed in case any die off/don’t sprout or to swap with friends when it’s time to transplant.
This year I would like to extend the invite to the Bare community to come out and swap some seeds and get a few things planted!
WHAT TO BRING:
If you have seeds to share bring them along, they can be store bought or ones you harvested yourself
some vessels for planting: small recycled pots, cans, take out containers, clear lettuce tubs, egg cartons, toilet paper rolls….you name it, just don’t buy anything!
Gloves if you don’t like getting dirty!
felt marker for labelling
small envelopes or pill organizers or bottles make great containers for seeds to go home with
