Twenty Twenty FREEEEEEE

I think we can all agree that 2022 was a bit of a roller coaster and although I am thankful for many things that came about last year, I am excited to have finished on a high note surrounded by friends and family!

Make 2023 a year of feeling FREE by turning up the tunes and tuning into what matters; you and your family’s health, happiness, and the protection of our precious planet who has also been through a rough few years!

What do I mean by feeling Free?

I mean no more excuses or putting things off…get out in nature or take that trip to see your long time friend, start eating the way that nourishes your body and eliminate the products that are causing the brain fog and fatigue. We all know that when we are completely non-dependent on something for our happiness we are truly free. That isn’t something that just happens overnight and just like changing any habit it starts with the small steps. Here are my little tips that will grow into big shifts:

Start saying no in order to make room for the yes’ that really matter. This is probably the best advice I was given over 6 years ago when I started my self healing journey. I was a burnt out, over achiever and couldn’t figure out why I never felt filled up by the things that brought me joy. I was saying yes to things that I really did love and want to do but I wasn’t taking into account how little time I was giving myself at the end of the day. I wasn’t able to slow down enough to fully enjoy the things I was saying yes to. So my wise friend Zoey told me to start pausing before answering anyone who asked something of me. Take an appropriate amount of time to respond - how much time would this ask be taking from me and multiply by at least 2! For example if a friend asked me to go on a 1-2 hour hike I would take 2-4 hours to respond and if it impacted my family be sure to include my partner in the decision. Another good example would be if I was asked to help volunteer for something at my kids school, I would take into consideration what I would be saying no to if I said yes (perhaps that weekly hike with a friend). My point is there are only so many hours in a day and although we all like to make the most of it and fit in as much joy as we can, slowly without noticing it sometimes we can forget the things that really fill us up by packing in too much. This is as much a reminder for myself as it is for all of you reading this!

The less is more approach has not only helped me save money over the last 3 years but time as well. I’m no where near where I could be with the minimalistic way of living but it sure can save you a lot of time and I’m already seeing how much space it frees up in my family’s life the less we have and desire. Take clothing for example, the day I decided to stop buying new released a massive weight from my shoulders. I went from wanting the latest outfit from Aritzia to actually wearing what felt good to me and only shopping second hand when I actually needed something. I still enjoy decorating my house and am rearranging furniture at least once a season to shift energy and get a good clean done but there are enough vases and picture frames in the world that buying one new at Home Sense isn’t necessary. Wouldn’t you rather spend your time anywhere else anyway? The more stuff you have, the more you have to clean up and organize and the more power those things have over you. So ditch the extraneous and only bring in items that have meaning and purpose.

You are the only one directing your life so don’t put the blame on work, kids, parents, anyone when you say you are “too busy” to do what you want to be doing. In fact remove that word completely from your vocabulary and switch it for “my life is so full” when someone asks you how you are. Being full holds a much more positive and appreciative energy so give yourself that reminder every time you hear yourself say you’re “too busy” or “I don’t have time”. If you are truly feeling that way, Make a Change! Don’t wait for something to shift, it will literally never happen unless You make a conscious effort.

Speaking of Consciousness…this is my word right now, it continues to come up all around me because I want it! I want to embody it, my soul needs it, the earth yearns for it, our entire human collective needs it! To be conscious isn’t just to be awake but to feel what’s going on around and beneath you. It’s to slow down enough to make decisions based on your own souls intuition. It’s to be aware of how that decision is going to impact your life in the long term. It’s to be ok with disappointing someone or shedding away layers of outdated truths that no longer serve you. To become conscious takes time and like any change feels uncomfortable, so start getting comfortable with feeling uncomfortable because it can be a long road! Most of us don’t have the ability to leave our lives to rediscover ourselves in Thailand - I urge you to do this if you actually can because it will save you months or possibly years of daily practice catching up with the natural cycle of the planet! But for the rest of us, its part of the journey and in order to re-align yourself with the cyclical rhythms and leave behind the linear thinking we need to practice it daily. With every practice of consciousness we will get closer to Freedom, both for ourselves and the entire global collective.

Our choices matter, especially when it comes to our health. What we put in and on our bodies effects more than we think. It tells our body and soul how we want to be treated and almost as quickly can re-design us from a cellular level. Our blood stream absorbs toxins within seconds and carries them to our hypothalamus which is our tiny but powerful control centre responsible for everything from releasing hormones to stimulating sleep and physiological cycles in your body. That means it needs to be fueled properly so it can function at its peak. Start looking at what is in everything you bring into your life, eliminating processed foods, toxic fast fashion and products with endless ingredients. Keeping it simple is the way to a healthier future.

Most people aren’t ready for this kind of change, but you are not most people! So go out there and start making 2023 the year to be FFFFFFFRRRRRREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!
